I have just posted a demo of Inbox2 (embedded below). This is the result of about 14 months of coding with a team of 6-9 guys. I have a lot of interesting lessons learned which I will be writing down when I manage to clear some time from the frantric coding sessions to get our beta out the door.

Hope you like it.

I was trying to read a (custom) xml configuration file inside my web role project. This might seem to be something trivial, but I did took me a while before I stumbled upon a solution.
The trick is NOT to use the regular Server.MapPath helper method but rather depend on the Request.PhysicalApplicationPath. The problem is that [...]

At the LeWeb conference in Paris last week, Nicolas Charbonnier from TechVideoBlog saw me working on some features for Inbox2 during the talks and promptly asked me wether he could shoot a video of what I was working on.
The result can be found on Youtube. Especially check out Visual Studio catching an application crash around [...]

Currently we are working on a web-based version of Inbox2. For that I am investigating the possibility to build the whole solution on top of Windows Azure. So far everything is looking quite good.
One of the problems I ran into while porting some code over was the fact that serialization of entities was not working [...]

When we were toying around with the idea of inbox2, the main question we were playing around with was: “what would the next gen e-mail client *look* like?”.

In the heydays of thinking about a next-gen message-based communication product (lets refer to that from now on as an Inbox2.0 client), we had a lot of discussion about whether to build a new product from scratch or look at creating a plugin for an existing email client (lets say for instance Outlook).
Yesterday I kind [...]

So the last time I updated my weblog was almost 6 months ago, and the time before that was also another 6 months ago. So if you are still following this blog (which I highly doubt, but lets try to change that) you might be wondering under which rock I have been living.
Well let me [...]

Dare Obesanjo has an insightful article titled Having the Right Users is More Important than Having the Right Features. Altough I agree mostly with what he is saying I am not entirely sure if we should put such a strong emphasis on users alone.
Currently I am deeply involved with a software startup for which social [...]

I still think buying Youtube was a stupid idea, even if the founders got out with a great exit. Although Google is cleaning house by getting rid of a big portion of the pirated content, I doubt they will be able to make this venture reach break-even, let alone profit. The youtube audience simply isn’t loyal [...]
